The Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA) offers training for builders, remodelers, and other contractors who want to learn how to weatherize homes for energy efficiency. The HBAA’s weatherization training program was created to teach the skills and knowledge needed to work under the Alabama Weatherization Assistance Program, a federally funded program providing grants for weatherizing low-income homes. Contractors who complete weatherization training such as that offered by the HBAA have the opportunity to bid on jobs under the Weatherization Assistance Program. Additionally, the course gives home building professionals a new skill set to meet the growing consumer demands for energy efficient remodeling. Weatherization training consists of two days of classroom work and one day of hands-on provisional field work. The cost is $200 for HBAA members and $300 for non-members. The training is offered by the HBAA on an as-needed basis. For more information, including a list of upcoming trainings, contact Kory Boling ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
