The CGP is an exclusive professional designation that is designed to teach building industry professional strategies for incorporation green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options.
Course Requirements Green Building for Building Professionals course Business Management for Building Professionals course OR hold an active NAHB professional designation Minimum of two (2) years building industry experience Adhere to the CGP Code of Ethics
The CGP designation curriculum offers information on: The principals of energy, water and resources Indoor air and environmental quality Lot and site development for green homes Homebuyer and owner education Common business challenges and practical tools to overcome them Business management, marketing and sales strategies to sell green
Continuing Education Requirements To maintain your CGP designation you are required to complete twelve (12) hours of continuing education every three years. A minimum of six (6) hours is required to come from The NAHB University of Housing educational activities. A minimum of eight (8) hours is required to come from green building industry related educational activities.
Graduation Fees: Once you have completed the courses determined by the BAR, you will need to fill out the graduation application. Along with the graduation application you will need the following:
1. If you are an employee, you must submit a letter of sponsorship from you employer 2. Proof of liability insurance from your company employer 3. Proof of workers compensation coverage from your employer/company 4. Valid business license if required by state 5. Signed Code of Ethics Pledge.
Submit your application along with the required documentation and the graduation fee of $145 for members and $245 for non-members to The NAHB University of Housing. You will receive your official CGP graduation kit in about four to six weeks.
Annual Renewal Fees: NAHB Member $50 Non-Member $75
