Affordable Housing Council
The Affordable Housing Council is the premier advocate for builders, developers and owners of affordable housing in Alabama. The council members are dedicated to providing and maintaining quality affordable housing for families. One of the primary ways the council does this is by supporting local HBAs that are faced with regulations burdensome to the building industry. Alabama Builders Political Action Committee (ABPAC)
ABPAC is a voluntary, political action organization designed to protect the public, the free enterprise system, and to advance the interests of Alabama’s housing industry. ABPAC was established by HBAA members and is independent of any political party or affiliation. ABPAC is supported by voluntary contributions, and is very active in Alabama’s political process, supporting candidates for office at the state and local levels. Associate Committee
The Associate Committee is made up of HBAA members who own or work for firms or corporations engaged in a trade, industry or a profession related to home building. Members of the Associate Committee include suppliers, subcontractors, marketing professionals, REALTORS®, and insurance brokers. Associate Committee meetings give these members the opportunity to network and learn more about the industry. The Committee supports the association through fundraising projects for the Foundation and ABPAC. Education Committee
Advances in the building industry are frequent and have a significant impact on the way a builder or remodeler runs his or her business. Members of the HBAA can stay abreast of these changes through the various continuing education programs offered by the Education Committee. These programs include Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Graduate Associate (CGA), Graduate Master Builder (GMB), Graduate Master Remodeler (GMR) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designations. Other educational opportunities are available through the committee, including workshops and seminars that address housing issues. HBAA is also actively involved with the state and local Departments of Education, promoting industry career opportunities to young people. Executive Officers Council
The Executive Officers Council is a professional organization of association executives who manage local builder associations affiliated with HBAA and NAHB. The council provides a forum for association executives to further their professional development. Investment Property Owners Council (IPOC)
The Investment Property Owners Council of the Home Builders Association of Alabama serves primarily multifamily owners, builders, property managers, and professionals affiliated with the multifamily housing industry to the benefit of consumers who comprise the multifamily housing market. Some of the benefits of membership include access to national speakers, lobbying of the Alabama Legislature and regulatory authorities, networking opportunities, education and professional designations. Council membership is available to members of the HBAA.

Land Developers Council (LDC)
The Land Developers Council reviews policy that impacts land use, and makes recommendations to the association board of directors on what course of action should be taken. The council also develops programs and services to educate developers on governmental affairs issues, the environment and regulations. Membership Committee
The main goals of the HBAA Membership Committee are to recruit new members and retain existing ones. This group has raised the association’s membership close to a record 12,000 members. For more information on this committee, contact Sarah Cobb, Membership Director, at (800) 745-4222.
Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee works to promote the home building industry to the general public. Its mission is to raise awareness of the contribution that homebuilding makes to Alabama, as well as to enhance the image of the industry, the association and its members. This is achieved through education, media campaigns, publications and other initiatives as directed by the committee. HBAA Remodelers
The HBAA Remodelers is recognized as the leading representative of the professional remodeling industry in Alabama. Members of this council are afforded numerous educational and networking opportunities, as well as the latest news on industry trends and events. The overall goal of the council is to raise the level of professionalism of the remodeling industry. The professional designations, Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Graduate Master Remodeler (GMR), are available through the council.
Community involvement is a vital component of the HBAA Remodelers. Remodelers at the local level contribute thousands of hours each year to the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together, the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and a variety of youth programs.
In an effort to protect consumers, the HBAA Remodelers Council has joined forces with the State of Alabama Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau and the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board for an annual education program. Each May, the four groups educate consumers on what to look for in a licensed, professional remodeler and how to protect themselves from home repair fraud.
The HBAA Remodelers also coordinate and promote the Alabama Remodeling Excellence Awards (AREA) program. This annual competition honors the best of Alabama’s remodeling industry. (For more information about the AREA program, click here.)

Women's Council
Women play a vital and ever-increasing role in the construction industry. Through the council, they are able to serve the association, industry and community in a variety of ways. Community service projects to benefit children and underprivileged persons are at the forefront of the council’s objectives.
